Elliot's Expose

When Elliot writes about his experience with the Jock Rots and sends it out over the KidNet, he includes the following quote in his letter."I think people ought to realize that stuff like this goes on every day…The rest of you are all part of it-because you let it go on and maybe you think it's funny, or you think it only happens to geeky outsiders and kids who are smaller or fatter or skinnier or don't have so many friends or so much money as you. So tell me-what happens when you don't have so many friends one day, or you don't have so much money, or something bad happens to you?" (91-92)
Blog Question:What is the message is he trying to get across to his classmates? (6pts)
Two Peer Responses (4 pts)

I think Elliot is trying to make his classmates think, what if it was them who this was happening to and how they would feel. Like he said in the quote(p.92) this could happen to anyone and it could even start happening to them now for any reason. I think he also is telling them that everyone should be respected and it is not because one person is different they should be treated like an old, smelly pair of socks. He is trying to make them think how it is to be bullied and treated badly. On p.93 he says "Let them wake up in the morning feeling scard" this shows that this letter is also a way for him to get his revenge at the Jock Rots and make them fear, about what's going to happen next.

I think that Elliot wrote a very strong piece of writing about how it feels to be bullied and it makes me think how horrible it must be. It also reminds me that everybody should be treated with respect.
